I wanted to upgrade a laptop since all of my computers are old and no longer upgradable to Windows 10 security requirements. Furthermore, I wanted some with USB C so I could get all kinds of connections out of it. There are a couple things that are nice about this laptop. One is that it is relatively thin compared to my Dell and Lenovo laptops. The screen display is extraordinarily sharp and bright. It is great for watching videos. For a laptop, it runs very quietly. The sound is softer than on my home-built computer. This laptop is not meant for CPU-hungry applications or high intensity gaming. I would use this for office productivity applications, internet serving, social media, or even watching movies. The laptop is also fairly light, so an elderly person may benefit from it.

I learned how to use this laptop and fell in love with it. Then I moved it wrong and the attached charging cord broke off. Essentially this would have killed my computer because there was no way to charge it. I was using it and my data was loaded in.. Pochc said there was no way to replace the cord. I didn’t want to spend a lot to buy one at Best Buy. I condacted the Acemagicians at the seller and they said to order a full replacement and return the unused computer and keep the cord. That’s what I did and 2 days later I was back using it. Thanks so much

Worked great for four days, then just stopped opening windows completely. It just flickers. Most of the recovery options in safe mode won’t run with this computer. Fortunately, I can still return it for a refund.great.
April 23 – Pochc replaced the laptop. The new one is working fine, with no issues. The sound isn’t great and the touchpad is a little wonky, but it’s very fast and has a lot of computing power. I use the laptop for writing, so I’m not watching a lot of videos on it or playing many games, so for my purposes, it’s perfect.

It has nothing to envy to the big brands, for me it is a good price for the characteristics and the design which very simple, slim body, not too heavy, it has a huge touch pad and it comes with the numeric keypad which not too many laptops comes with nowadays. The setup was very easy and simple, and so far runs good, more than enough to watch videos answer emails and browse internet.

This computer stopped holding a charge n less than an hour. I bought this computer to download embroidery designs and save them on a USB stick to transfer to my embroidery machine. It was a nightmare. Then the charger end broke off of the charger and that was the last straw. Now I’m way behind on my embroidery projects.

Aside of the number pad, and print screen option not working, this is a nice laptop! I would love if someone could contact me to help me resolve this issue.

Old computer was too slow & out dated. It was time for change.

The overall specs are very impressive – N95 processor, 16GB of ram, and a 512GB SSD hard drive. I bought this laptop to use in my workshop. I hook up test equipment to it via USB and it has worked great for that. I get over 3 hours of battery life when watching videos, it will probably go even longer during simple web browsing. The screen looks really sharp and is plenty bright for indoor use. I keep it on the brightest setting most of the time. I love that it can charge via USB-C. Note there are two usbc ports on the side, one is for charging only (no data), and the other is for devices only (it won’t charge through this port).
It’s pretty fast, I got an 88 on the Chrome Speedometer benchmark. That is faster than some other laptops I have that cost much more.
There are 3 USB-A ports, as well as an HDMI port and a micro-sd card reader. And a real headphone jack. There is a lot to like. If I have some gripes it would be the speakers and the trackpad. The speakers are adequate for watching a short instructional video on YouTube, but I wouldn’t want to watch a movie using them. But it has bluetooth and you can connect speakers or a soundbar that way. Or plug a soundbar into the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is what I plan to do. And the track pad feels a little cheap, which is not unexpected at this price point. I use an external mouse, which works better for me.

The ACEMAGIC Laptop Computer, Intel Quad-12th Alder Lake N95(Up to 3.4GHz), 16GB DDR4 512GB SSD Windows 11 Laptop with Metal Shell, Support 15.6″ FHD, WiFi, BT5.0, Speaker, Mic, USB3.2, Type_C
is so far very impressive. I will preface this review by saying that the last laptop I purchased was in 2013 so about a decade ago at the time of this review, so I may be easily impressed lol.
One of the most surprising things I found was that this laptop runs very cool, every laptop I’ve owned ran so hot you couldn’t actually use it as a laptop, even when the air intake vents were clear and unblocked; not the case with this one, I encoded a video file using ffmpeg (a very CPU intensive process) and only saw max 60° C on the CPU temperatures and the case of the laptop was just mildly warm. Very impressive, of course this may be more a testament to Intel and the Alder lake CPU but it could also be good thermal management on ACEMAGIC’s part.
The fan is also whisper quiet and quickly reduces the CPU temperature when it’s on.
The encoding speed was similar to my desktop machine (that is probably 10+ years old) and uses a fraction of the power. it’s amazing how far technology has come.
I am a Linux guy and was able to dual boot this laptop with Linux Mint with the caveat that I had to use the absolute latest Linux kernel in order for everything to work but in the end it did, no issues at all, sound, wifi, video, touch pad, all work great!
When dual booting, press F7 during boot to get to the selection menu (Windows, Ubuntu (mint), Setup).
In the setup (bios) you can select which one gets boot priority: Windows or Ubuntu, if you select Ubuntu then you are presented with the Grub menu on every boot and it’s easy to select which OS you want. With Windows there’s no option, you have to hit the F7 key.
If Windows is your thing I won’t judge, all I can say is that it appears to run fine on this laptop.
The Bluetooth works well, paired with earbuds no problem.
The touch pad is very responsive with good gesture control.
The battery life is pretty good, the product listing boasts 7-8 hours but I didn’t see anything near that, probably 5 hours with actual usage (web browsing, watching videos etc), which is very decent in my book.
When I connected to my home WiFi router, I used the 2.4 GHz connection and saw abysmal speeds, about 2Mbps according to speed test. When I connected using 5GHz I saw about 62Mbps (my internet is 100Mbps).
I can’t say for certain if it’s the WiFi card or my router but at least with the 62Mbps at 5GHz that’s plenty of speed for anything, video streaming, video conferences etc. ( I did test this in Windows too and saw the same speeds so it’s not Linux’s fault). Using a USB-C to Ethernet dongle I saw the full 100Mbps so the computer itself is very capable.
The SD card slot works and is great for storage expansion, albeit a slow speed one.
The USB-C data port does not offer DP Alt mode so no video output, just noting this.
There’s no Ethernet port for wired connectivity, probably because the laptop is so thin the port wouldn’t fit. Of course most laptops in this range are trending away from the RJ45 jack as it’s probably not really in demand anymore, but as I stated early, a USB to Ethernet dongle can be had very cheaply and works great for those that need it.
I really love how thin this laptop is and just can’t get over how lightweight it is!
The camera works but it’s just OK.
The included power adapter is USB PD which means other adapter can (and do) work just fine. I know this is an industry trend but I am very happy about this direction as it means it’s so much easier to get a replacement adapter rather than being tied to a manufacturers proprietary adapter which they over inflate in price when selling you a new one.
The outside shell is metal and helps the laptop to be robust, I’m not afraid of it bending under a slight stress like other plastic ones. The metal does easily show fingerprints, however, and that can be annoying and start to look ugly.
I have heard that ACEMAGIC has unwittingly shipped malware / spyware on their computers so I was concerned about this laptop; I ran three different scanners, two in Windows (Windows Defender and Malewarebytes) and one in Linux (ClamAV), and all three came back as clean. I am comfortable now using this laptop without worry.
It has a 3.5mm headset jack, think wired hands free phone adapters. it works fine.
The HDMI port works fine and allowed me to use an external monitor in mirror or extend mode.
This computer is mid-range, meaning it is great for general use, browsing the internet, watching videos, working with word processors, spreadsheets etc, multi-tasking as well.
Not great for high power games but works great obviously for simple games: solitaire etc.
I’m really happy with this laptop and feel it is a good value for your money at ~$500 at the time of this review. It’s competitively price.
